P90X Nutrition Plan

The P90X nutrition plan is a diet system that is best when used in conjunction with the P90X exercise program. The goal of the diet is to help people to control their weight while they build muscle. The diet duration is over the course of 13 weeks and is broken down into three phases. Each phase focuses on providing specific nutrients and a regulated calorie count. If the person using the P90X program follows the diet and the exercise plan, they can transform their bodies in ways they never dreamed possible.

The first phase of the diet is the fat shredder. During this phase, the diet provides the least calories of the three stages. One of the great things about this diet is it encourages adherents to eat many small meals each day. They also can choose between the meal plan and the portion plan. This gives them the freedom to add some variety while until maintain the appropriate calorie count and decide the number of portions of specific foods they eat each day and all them to create their own menu.

The program encourages dieters to eat a group of diverse and very nutritious foods. These foods provide the essential nutrients necessary for muscle building. The key to losing weight is portion control and the time of day when you eat food. The recommended foods for people on the diet includes lean meat, lots of fruits and vegetables, low fat milk and cheese, eggs, peanut butter, wholegrain pasta and bread, flax seed, soy nuts and protein bars. These foods provide muscle building proteins and all the vitamins and minerals for maintaining overall health.

One of the elements of the diet is oatmeal. Oats are hearty whole grains. The American Heart Association encourages most people to eat whole grains like oatmeal regularly because it can reduce the risk of heart disease. Oats provide nutrients including Thiamine, Niacin, Folat and Selenium that support the blood, bones, nerves and metabolism.

Eggs are another important component of the diet. Specifically egg whites are pure source of lean protein. In addition, since eggs are relatively inexpensive, they are a cheap source of minerals, vitamins, and protein. Eggs are the perfect food because they are a good source of high-quality protein and essential nutritious. One egg has the equivalent protein of one once of meat. It is the best source of the B vitamin Choline. Eggs are also rich in B-Vitamins including riboflavin (vitamin B2) and vitamin B12, phosphorus, the trace mineral selenium and lutein.

Another essential component of the diet promoted by P90X is lean meat. Many of the vitamins and minerals the body needs are only in meat. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends people eat at least 2 servings of meat daily. Protein is essential to healthy human development and function. An ounce of lean protein usually provides about 7 grams of protein. It also has vitamin B6, vitamin B12, phosphorus, zinc and iron. This is very important as people work to strengthen and build their muscles and improve overall fitness.

Green salad is also an essential part of the diet. Raw salad greens are healthy, tasty and are very low in calories and carbohydrates. The salads should include leafy green vegetables, red onion, radicchio, green pepper, tomatoes, and radishes. People get the best results when their green salads include vitamin rich Arugula, Belgian endive, Bibb lettuce, Curly endive or chicory, Dandelion greens, Escarole, Green leaf lettuce, Lollo rosso, Purslane and Red mustard can also provide a wide array of vitamins and minerals and play an important role in building the body.

Snacks are also important in this diet. It is recommended people snack on fruits and vegetables throughout the day. The recommended snacks also include protein bars and shakes. The P90X Peak Performance Protein Bars are healthy, high-protein alternatives snacks available in flavors like Chocolate Fudge, Café Mocha, Wildberry Yogurt and Chocolate Peanut Butter. They are low in calories, fat, and high in protein and carbohydrates. The nutrients are essential for muscle building and help to provide the body with energy. The bars are also rich in vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, C, E, B6, B12, iodine foliate, zinc and copper. They also offer much needed fiber.

Protein shakes help with weight loss while enhancing workouts. They are perfect right after a workout. Protein shakes are a safe way to ensure enough protein, when used as part of a balanced, nutrient-rich diet. They help the body to recover from intense exercise by providing glycogen to the muscles. Protein shakes also help repair damage to muscles that can occur with serious bodybuilding and lead to fewer infections, less heat exhaustion, and less muscle soreness.

The key to the effectiveness of the nutritional plan is how it is with the workouts. As the intensity of the workouts increase, so does the amount of calories the plan calls for. After the initial ‘shredding phase’ designed for maximum weight loss, the nutritional plan calls for an increase in size, number and frequency of the meals.

There are some weaknesses to the P90X diet. Some people may fall victim to fatigue during phase one. The small amount of carbohydrates that that the plan recommends, is an attempt to jump-start the weight loss process is usually the cause. Because the diet calls for adherence to a somewhat restricted list of foods, some people find it difficult to visit their favorite fast food restaurants or local restaurants with their loved ones. Some people do not like following the plan because the diet requires them to plan their meals several days in advance.

Overall, the P90X diet is well balanced and perfectly designed to accelerate weight-loss and provide the essential building blocks for the body. Adherents must use commonsense to ensure they are getting the energy giving foods they need to sustain them during the intense workouts.
